What I'm Wearing: Picture (Im)perfect

Hello lovelies. I've started my new job (yay!) and I am loving it. It's a happy day when you are doing something you truly enjoy. Anyhow, despite all of my joy, I've been photographing terribly the last couple of days. I would have published my outfit from Tuesday had I liked one picture out of the bunch, but alas, I did not. It was windy and when I looked at the outfit it photographs, I was not all that impressed with myself. Same with this outfit, but I can't just keep going on and on without posting. The sun brightness caused the pattern of the top I am wearing to get lost in the mix and again it was super windy. Oh well. Life goes on.

This is what I wore to work yesterday. I love fun printed crop tops and this one despite it's cream color has a lot of colors in the pattern to work with. So naturally I chose to accessorize with two colors that were not in it at all via the green three-stone necklace and yellow cap-toe flats.  Fun fact: as long as it "goes" it doesn't necessarily have to match.

Raising the roof isn't just for 1998 anymore.
An attempt for you to see the pattern of the shirt.

What I'm Wearing: Grocery Getter

Hello beautiful people! I literally had nothing important to do today. My one task I even had to get dressed for was getting groceries. Exciting, right? You know you are weeping with jealousy over my glamorous life. The weather has cooled off quite a bit, so I had to put my bare legs back away for now. Phooey. Oh well, the sun was still though and it made for a beautiful spring day.

On to what I wore. I wasn't feeling particularly inspired, but there was no way on earth I was going out in sweatpants! I am pretty sure jeggings are my favorite casual piece to wear, ever. They are stretchy, form fitting and flattering. I paired the jeggings with a lace top, leatherette vest, red shoes and bold accessories. Casual yet chic. Don't you think?

What I'm Wearing: The Hunger Games

Ok, so who all has seen "The Hunger Games" movie? I just went this afternoon.. I've read (and re-read) all three books and was super pumped to see the first movie installment. I am extremely anal about book-to-movie interpretations and I tend to be nervous about what will be cut out or added. I liked this movie pretty well, but did not love it. I find myself nitpicking all of the details they left out, what parts they put in, and what they could have done better. Overall, I enjoyed it and thought it was cast very well though.

This is the outfit I wore on our afternoon date. I adore polka dots and really love the subtle black on black polka dot print this skirt provides. I paired it with a bronze sequin top, strappy metallic heels, and a fun statement necklace. Did I do Katniss proud?

What I'm Wearing: Happy Day

Hello lovelies! Today is glorious. Anytime you can put on a bikini and read on your deck in March, makes for a fantastic day. On top of the weather, I was offered an assistant manager position at Maurices today and I took it. I am so grateful and blessed to be moving into an industry I love! Hooray for helping people look fantastic as a job!

I had a phone interview this morning with a regional manager, but went into the store to sit with the store manager and have the phone interview there. This is what I wore. I am wearing flats! I figure I will be wearing more of them being on my feet all day anyway. Aren't they cute? I love this fun printed skirt and paired it with a simple yellow pocket tee and multi-strand necklace. Cute and comfortable is the way to go.

What I'm Wearing: Polka Dots and Pleats

I really didn't have anywhere important to go today. I just had to go to the Doctor and to the grocery store. That was it. Obviously that didn't stop me from getting all gussied up. Don't you love the phrase "gussied up"? I think it's fantastic. Anyway, it was near 80 degrees out so I have bare arms and legs! How exciting!

Few things make me happier than polka dots. They just always seem so cheerful to me! I paired the tie-neck top with a fun orange pleated skirt, vintage clip-on earrings, and tuxedo-inspired heels. I am in love with vintage jewelry and always bee-line for the jewelry counter at every antique store. You can often find amazing, unique pieces at reasonable at antique or vintage stores. I got these little babies for $3!

What I'm Wearing: Spring in My Step

Okay. So apparently Mother Nature is confused and thinks it's summer right now. Completely fine by me. I was even a bit warm in this outfit, and I know I am too young to be having hot flashes, so I will blame it on the heat wave. I literally ran back in the house after taking these pictures and ripped the scarf off and proceeded to put shorts on. I always giggle a little when I think about how the southerners must think of us northerners wearing shorts at the first sign of 60 degree weather. You would have been hard pressed to find many people wearing long sleeves on a mid 70s day, like today.

On to the outfit. I adore this maxi dress. I might even venture to say it's my favorite. All of the colors in it make me really happy and also make the accessorizing options for this dress almost endless. Today I decided to keep it simple and casual with a coral scarf, sandals and a statement bracelet. Maxi dresses are so carefree and easy to wear. If you don't already own one, I would highly recommend them.

What I'm Wearing: Sophisticated Stripes

Miss me? I miss all of you! I sure feel like I've been very absent recently. I apologize. I have been on the hunt for a job and keeping myself busy with life's little things. I intend to be back in full force this week though. The weather in Michigan has been absolutely gorgeous. It's been in the 60s and 70s pretty much all week long. That is nearly unheard of in a Michigan March. Not that I am complaining!

Today I decided to break out a super cute skirt that I picked up on my birthday shopping excursion a few weeks ago. I love the neutral colored stripes and the fun front detail. I decided to keep it simple and pair it with a black top, wedges and a statement necklace. As much as I love my tights collection, my legs sure felt liberated.

What I'm Wearing:The Bold and the Beautiful

Hello Sunshine! It is so nice to have warmer weather and Mr. Sunshine peaking out and beating down on my skin. To celebrate this warmer spring weather, I decided to combine two bright items in my closet. Why? Because I'm a rebel like that.

Mixing colors is pretty much trial and error, well, in my opinion at least. You never know exactly how it will look until you try it on. I first tried these coral jeans with a mint sparkly sweater and gave it a big thumbs down. I looked like a sorbet. Not my best look. So then I saw this fun chartreuse top in my closet and thought it would be an interesting choice to rock with the bright jeans. Because everything else was so bright, I accessorized with shimmery nude shoes and a neutral bag. I rather like this outfit, it's just so darn cheerful. Do you agree?

What I'm Wearing: Rank and File

Hello fellow fashion lovers! Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. I decided to wear a color today I do not own or wear a lot of: Army Green.  I tend to like it as a great neutral, but for some reason I just never think to wear it. My mom was kind enough to buy me four pair of colorful tights (in case you are a new reader to my blog, I have a bit of an obsession with colored and patterned tights) that she found for $1 a piece. My mom is pretty awesome, I've probably mentioned that too.

These were one of those pair and I was really eager to wear them since I haven't ever had a pair of tights from the green family. I paired the tights with a similar colored button down top that was lost in the abyss that is my closet, a black faux leather skirt, multi-strand necklace and leopard print heels for fun.

What I'm Wearing: Minty Fresh

Hello lovelies! I hope you are all having a splendid week! I am enjoying my time at home and trying to get a bit of spring cleaning in before I hopefully begin a new career. Scrubbing tubs and floors isn't the most fun I've ever had, but having a clean house is always nice.

I had been sort of on the fence about the pastels trend coming up this spring. Pastels usually tend to wash me out, but when I saw all of the beautiful pastel denim that was hot for spring, I got super excited. They are just so soft, elegant, chic and a great way to change up the bottom half of your wardrobe. This mint color is one of my favorites of he season. I knew I had to have these pants as soon as I saw them. I paired the soft colored denim with a colorful printed top and cobalt shoes. Fun fact about the necklace: It's made 100% of recycled magazines. How cool is that?

Blue Stitch Giveaway!

Hello lovelies! I am super excited to feature an amazing handbag designer today: Heather the owner and designer of The Blue Stitch. I was over-the-moon when Heather contacted me to design a custom handbag. She asked me a few questions to get a feel for what kind of handbag I wanted, what colors I like, what era is my favorite for fashion, etc. She used all of the info she gathered from me and gave a few suggestions. She was open to me tweaking ideas and making the handbag very "me".

We went with a 1920's glam theme for this clutch. I adore red for accessories and when she asked if I would like feather trim, I was like "Yes, please!"  It's such a statement bag and it will look amazing with anything from jeans to a LBD.

Look at it! Isn't it gorgeous?
It was windy out so it was hard to keep the feathers from blowing around.
I have a HUGE wallet and I just grabbed a few other things that I would typically carry.
Everything fit with ease and I could have put a bunch more stuff in there.
She even put pockets in there for convenience!
I asked Heather a few questions. These are her responses. :)

1. How did you get started making handbags?

I started by using patterns but felt they were restrictive to me. It didn't take me long before I started tweaking patterns until I really wasn't using one at all.

2. Why did you decide you wanted to work with clients doing customization rather than designing a bunch of ready-to-sell handbags?
I believe everyone to be unique and important. Who doesn't love to feel special and appreciated?! Right! LOL! This is just one way that I can hopefully bless another woman's life to achieve that. I will make my own line (I certainly have some ideas) but for now I'm thrilled to be partnering with others!

3. What is your favorite fashion era for handbags and why?
I love vintage...40's and glam! You and I worked well together! I do enjoy the chic-ness that era provides. It makes me really feel like a lady and very classy.

4. In your opinion, what is the one type of bag every woman should own?
She should own what suits her life best and her style. That's why I've created The Blue Stitch.

5. You really were amazing to work with. Where can everyone contact you to get started on getting their own fabulous custom bag made by you?
THANKS! You can send me an email or contact me via my Facebook Fan Page. They should also be on the look out for my website with a design center...YEAH! (To be launched SOON)

Heather has graciously offered for you to win your very own customized Kassi Clutch!

The bag style will be the same, but you will get to choose your own colors and trim!

What I'm Wearing: Mixed Signals

Hi all! Sorry I have been sparse these past few weeks, there has been a whole lot going on. Today I officially rejected an offer to stay where I am currently working. I was not pleased with the monetary side of it and I feel like this is my opportunity to change careers and do something different. It's nerve-racking and exciting all at the same time. We will see what comes about from my job hunt, hopefully I will find something sooner than later.

On to my outfit. I got these amazingly fun tights for a birthday present and immediately wanted to wear them. I knew I wanted to mix the big dot print on the tights with stripes, thus the belt and shoes. Mixing prints is effortless when you keep it in the same color family. Pair it all with a pink skirt and it's a party on our body. Am I right? Of course I am. It was lightly snowing when I took these pictures, just so you know those aren't huge flakes of dandruff.

What I'm Wearing: Birthday Suit

Hey guys, it's my birthday today. I haven't had much time to post so here is a quick shot of what I wore. I am so in love with these leopard print pants. I know you can't tell too much from this photo but the sweater is sparkly! Cute, comfortable and very Kassi. I hope you all have a great weekend!
