Wal-Mart's Cute Floral Shorts!

The picture above is me (on the right) rocking a pair of floral shorts I got at Wal-Mart for $6.
I paired these adorable shorts with a cream lace top (Maurices), a coral scarf (dress barn), nude peeptoe flats (Kohl's) and a floral bangle. Floral is on trend right now and what a perfect way to stay cool and look hot this summer on the cheap. For some reason Wal-Mart's website lists these at $8 a pair but I would check your local WallyWorld since I know I got mine for less.

They come in both pink and blue varieties (I am wearing the pink) and I adore both.

Pick these up for a fun way to mix print into your wardrobe this summer!

InStyle Magazine Look for Less

As  I was flipping through my InStyle magazine I came across this page which showed how to take a silk fuschia top and make two distinct outfits with it. Looking at the prices of each item on the page, I was both shocked and disgusted. This motivated me to make a similar outfit for less. I am pretty pleased with what I found, so if you like the look above, you can do it for much less. In case you were wondering what the above outfit adds up to, it would cost you $2,038. You can gasp now. My version is under $100 created with the pieces below.
This is by no means a silk shirt but it has the oversize feel of the one shown above and the v-neck will make you appear slimmer. Anvil Women's Sheer V-neck Shirt  $8.99 at Amazon.com

A slim pair of  black dress pants will still hold the same dressy look as the wool pants listed above at a much lower cost.

Jolt Skinny Trousers $17.99 at Macys.com

I wondered if I would have difficulty finding an affordable pair of black studded pumps to put with this outfit but it these beauties showed up at a at less than one tenth of the price of the version above.

Not Rated Riveting Platform Pump
$19.98 at Amazon.com

A pretty turquoise necklace really pops off of the pink of the shirt. The version above is $395, this is under $8.

This bracelet has an architectural feel to it like the one in the magazine. A great staple to add to your wardrobe.

I love the concept of a bold yellow clutch. This one will work well with my version of the outfit and will be great going into your fall wardrobe as well.

Chinese Laundry Twist Clutch (in mustard)

$16.88 at amazon.com
In the outfit above they have a pair of clear fashion glasses but I really liked this nerdy chic black version.

The grand total for my interpretation
of InStyle's outfit is $82.24 :)

Talk about a look for a LOT less. What do you think?

Outfit Idea of the Day: K-Mart Chic

I've noticed that K-mart has quite a bit of really cute stuff (way beyond what I am posting here). This is is a very simple but elegant shirt and shorts combo. Look put together and keep cool!

Pretty color, girly ruffles and raised dots make this tank a very eye-catching piece. Pair it with a pencil skirt for a dressier look.

Attention Vertical Ruffle Tank in Carmine Pink
$11.99 at kmart.com

These dark denim shorts have a bit of a shine to them making them dressier than your average pair of shorts. I love the structure of these and the fact that they are not too short. Tuck the above shirt in, add a belt and cute accessories and voila! You have an instantly put together look.

Attention Dress Shorts

$14.99 at kmart.com
A medium width belt like this one will be the perfect simple balance for this outfit breaking up the shirt and shorts. Yes ladies, tucking your shirt in is back in fashion. It will give you more waist definition too!

Attention Enamel Buckle Belt

$3.99 at kmart.com

The woven sandals are classy and basic. You will get miles of use of them in your summer wardrobe.

But seriously, everyone should pop into a K-mart. Cute stuff!

My Clothing and Accessory Scores of the Day!

Here is my first installment of actual things I have purchased and the price I paid for these finds. I hit the jackpot at Maurice's. They had recently marked down a bunch of things and truth be told I am sure I could have bought more but I contained myself. :) Here is an overall picture of the items I purchased today.
There is nothing quite like a quality pair of eye catching shoes. Red is a great, nearly neutral to add some brightness and interest to an outfit.

Kiki ruffle faux suede red pumps.

$9.98 (originally $36) at Maurices. If you don't have a local store you can check it out at maurices.com

This is the lone item not from Maurices. I have been really looking for a colorful pair of sunglasses in this shape that I actually like. I was surprised to find this pair at CVS Drugstore. I love them on!

Red Sunglasses $7 ($10 but I had a $3 off coupon)

A bright chunky statement necklace can really kick up the character of an outfit. I love this super chunky turquoise necklace and I nearly squealed with excitement when I saw the price.

Marbelized Chunky Necklace

$2.99 (Originally $18) at Maurices

I love interesting necklaces with multiple colors, and I own a lot of pink so this really held appeal to me. A necklace like this can add some modern appeal to a basic t-shirt or tank top.

Multi-Color Beaded Necklace

$2.99 (originally $16) at Maurices

I live for Blazers. This is one of my biggest obsessions over the last year or so because they are so versatile from business attire to adding structure to a pair of jeans or shorts. I wear blazers year round and i love this light weight cream and light beige striped blazer. It's a fantastic neutral and has cute floral cuffs on it's three quarter length sleeves. This is my favorite score of the whole bunch!

Striped Blazer w/ Floral Sleeves

$9.99 (originally $44) at Maurices

The last of my scores is another pair of shoes. I am quite the fan of peep-toe booties and this camel color is a fantastic neutral and I am especially happy that the wedge isn't crazy high. Cute with shorts in the summer and tights and dresses in the winter. I was quite pleased when I saw these in the clearance section.

Ellie Pleat Wedge

$9.98 ($44 originally) at Maurices

What do you guys think of this stuff? I love it! But of course, I'm a little biased. :)
