Outfit Idea of the Day: Animal Instincts

I am seriously in love with animal prints, especially leopard. It never really falls out of fashion favor and always looks very chic.

I came across this dress whilst browsing the clearance section of asos and instantly fell in love. I like the 3/4 sleeve and that for once its a dress that is flowy  and work appropriate. I will be ordering this one myself!

Animal Print Slinky Dress
$31.10 at asos.com

Because the dress is comprised of neutral colors, I've chosen a necklace in a cobalt color to give this outfit a little zing. A print dress like this doesn't need to be over-accessorized, as the print will do the majority of the talking. Simple design, beautiful color.

I also think bright cobalt shoes would look awesome with this dress. Tell me you don't love these shoes, I would be totally surprised. This jewel tone looks great on everyone and can be worn to dress up jeans or add some spice to a dress outfit.

This clutch has some of the same colors as the dress but its color blocked design makes it a modern and funky choice for this ensemble.

Scores of the Day: My $23 Goodwill Haul

I stopped into Goodwill today on a whim and it one of those good haul days. They had a lot of cute stuff they received from Target stores in this time and luckily it was in my size!   In my previous post I droned on about the awesomeness of thrifting, so I won't bore you with more of that I will just get down to what I got and what I look for when I am thrifting.

This is a very basic black dress, probably from the 90s or so, but its classic shape and color make it timeless. I had been looking for an LBD like this that is not incredibly short  and work appropriate and got lucky enough to find it for $4 at the Goodwill. Score!

All summer long I have wanted an orange dress. I tried on probably 10 or more and liked none of them. This dress is from Target and still had its tags on it. I plan on wearing this into fall with a blazer or cardigan and tights.

Brand New for $6

This is the back of the dress above. I love the exposed black zipper it gives the dress a very modern feel and adds interest to a simple dress.

This is a fairly sheer leopard print top with a tied neck. This is perfect for me to pair with skirts and dress pants for the office and also to put with skinny jeans for a night out. I love the flowy fit. It looks great tucked or untucked.

Brand new with tags on for $4 at Goodwill

This is a basic khaki wrap skirt, that was another brand new piece they got in from Target. There isn't really too much to say about this, for $3 it was a steal for a wardrobe staple.

This shirt is a bit more navy than it looks in this picture. It has pretty flutter sleeves and I love the embellishments on it. It looks great tucked into the skirt above. Well worth the $4 I paid for it :)

This is the first thing I picked up today. I'm having a love affair with clutches lately and this color makes me super happy. A real bargain at $2

Grand total for all 6 items: $23
I call that a success!

What I'm Wearing Today: Black, White and Thrifted All Over

Hello Ladies. Today I want to talk a little about the wonderful, glorious thing that we call Thrift Shopping. If you aren't thrifting, you are seriously missing out. I like to pay a visit to the local Goodwill and Salvation Army at least once a month to see what might be available. I have had many people complain that they cannot find anything when they go thrifting, but I think it stems from a lack of patience of sifting through each rack for any fashion gems. It's always gonna be hit and miss, that is just the nature of the business, but hang in there and I guarantee you will not be sorry.

Now onto what I'm wearing. Today was about mixing prints in the black and white family while getting my pop of color from a bold teal pencil skirt. In the picture on the left you can see that my scarf is star printed, while my tank is an ikat print. If you are new to mixing prints and are nervous about trying it out, I would stick to prints all in the same color family. Black and white is an easy place to begin.

Here is the outfit in all of it's glory. My shirt, scarf and shoes are all different prints, but as you can see they all compliment each other well. The green skirt gives the outfit the needed color and base to support the various prints.

Now onto what I paid for everything.

What I'm Wearing Today: Maxi Skirt

Well hello fashionistas! Sorry I've been neglecting my posting duties. I was gone on vacation and since then I've been catching up from vacation!  I went on my first shopping trip in awhile this past weekend and was really happy with this emerald colored skirt I picked up at Macy's and wanted to share the love. The skirt was originally $44 but was on sale for $17.20. On top of that I had a coupon for 20% off making this awesome skirt only $13.76. Hooray!  I was immediately drawn to the beautiful color and the fact that I can wear it into fall and winter.
With this skirt I am wearing a lace top from Maurices that I got on the clearance rack last year but I think a lot of tops would look great with this skirt. In fact, I tried on a python print top at Macy's with it and it was gorgeous but the shirt was still $30 so I passed.

These are the sandals I'm wearing. I love the refreshing coral color and braided strap.

I got the shoes  at Aeropostale for $9.99

Also on my little shopping excursion I picked up this super adorable belt. Mostly because I knew it would go with the skirt, but also because I love the print. Best Part? It was $4.80 at forever21.

My necklace was unfortunately turned around in the picture above but this is what it looks like. I found it on the clearance rack at Claire's and I believe it was $2.99. Super cute though!

What do you think of the emerald green skirt? Is it something you will pick up for your fall wardrobe?

I know I'm in love!

Outfit Idea of the Day: Crazy for Crochet

Unless you have been living under a rock you have probably noticed a surge in crochet tops, vests, jewelry, etc. in every store. I personally love it and got myself a new crochet vest just the other day. I was browsing online today and saw this absolutely gorgeous crochet top that I could see being wore in many different ways in a wardrobe.

This skirt is beautiful in color and utilitarian in purpose. A button down skirt is good for casual or for business. This particular cut is flattering on most every figure and it's on sale!

Every time I see a stone necklace in a store, I want to buy it. There is something very cool and chic about them. Pick one up to throw on with your sundress. It serves to pull the color palate together in this outfit.

Outfit Idea of the Day: Crop Top

The surprise trend I'm loving this summer is the crop top. If you asked me 6 months ago if I would wear a crop top I would have replied with disgust "no way." I was in Macy's one day and tried a hippie-ish looking crop top and fell in love. It flirted with the top of my skinny jeans so my midriff was not showing (which is golden since I will not be going bare midriff). Last week I bought an animal print one at T.J. Maxx and so I thought I would share how I would wear a crop top.

Everyone should own some leopard in their wardrobe as it is a classic, bold print that never goes out of favor. I'm loving this cute side tie crop with these higher waist shorts. Sexy and classy.

These tough and edgy wedges will add an unexpected sexy element that will pull everything together nicely.

Gold with black and leopard is heaven to me. This necklace is a little tribal and very modern. This would even be great with a plain t-shirt!

I am very much loving the mixing of prints trend that is still hot right now. This bag has edge of it's own and the tribal-esque print with the blue is so beautiful.
