What I'm Wearing: Prep Academy

Hello, gorgeous! Hope you are all doing well! Fall has arrived in a big way. The leaves have changed, the chill has crept in and I've even had to scrape ice off of my car once already. This is one of my favorite times of the year. Fashionistas have to love it because we can pretty much bust out a whole new wardrobe. It's also a time where I am forced to face the fact that I have a ridiculous amount of boots and a tights collection that spans the rainbow plus about 10 other shades. Sad thing is I am already taking mental notes of what colors I do not have and need to get. I have a problem.

So apparently with this outfit, I was feeling the need to channel my inner school girl. I bought this skirt recently for like $5 from Aeropostale. How could I say no? The colors are great and it's pleated. Not sure how I was exactly going to wear it for fall I brought it home and saw this cardigan hanging in my closet. It was meant to be,. The pocket detailing matches almost exactly. I paired it with patterned tights and Mary-Jane heels.

What I'm Wearing: A T-shirt and Leather

Hi everyone! Fall has arrived in a big way. Like brrrrr.  I unwisely left the house like this with no jacket and was freezing. My car's heat got cranked for the first time this season. Anyway, I went on a little shopping trip with my mom yesterday and actually bought what seems like a minimum amount of things in comparison what I usually buy. This is okay. I need to do this more often. The most exciting part of the trip was my finding these faux leather pants! I have literally been searching for years for a pair of faux leather pants that A. Aren't so tight they look like leggings and B. Are passably long enough for my stilt legs. Enter these New York & Company pants. I saw them in the store and got super excited. New York and Company pants tend to fit my figure very well so I was instantly hopeful. I put them on and said "Yay, they actually look like pants!" It's the small victories, right?

The T-shirt was also a purchase from this shopping excursion. I love oversized tees...on other people. Not usually me. But this one seemed to strike the right balance of sloppy meets chic. Plus it has a fashionista emblazoned on it. What's not to like?

What I'm Wearing: Rocktober

Hello Dahhhlings! I am rather disappointed to see that it's been almost a month since I posted on here. Life certainly moves fast sometimes. It's October. Holy crap, where did the time go? This is one of my absolute favorite times of the year in Michigan. The leaves all turn beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow and every time I look out the window I feel like I am viewing an exquisite painting. My other part of fall? The food. Apple cider, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin bread, caramel apples and other delicious treats will me flooding my kitchen this time of year.

It's a beautiful 79 degree day here today, so naturally I had to rock the bare legs since it's not going to be able to happen for all that much longer. It's funny to me sometimes how an outfit that you are throwing together at the last minute seems to be one of the coolest you've wore in weeks. Maybe it's because it hasn't been overworked? I woke up this morning and needed to be to work by 8am. I am admittedly not a morning person and my creativity in outfit planning is usually pretty terrible anytime before 10am. However, I think this one turned out alright.

I grabbed this skirt (which seems to be a staple for me) and threw on a breezy sheet white top and topped it with a leather fringe vest. To hide the fact I was having a terrible hair day, I threw on this hat for damage control. The overall look is a little grunge chic, and I love it.

Have a great day, everyone!

What I'm Wearing: The Pumpkin Mini

Hi Everyone! I have been absolutely faltering at posting regularly and I feel like I'm constantly apologizing, but I am sorry! :) I've been missing all of you and will be catching up on my fellow fashionista's blogs soon.

Do you ever have days where you are totally ant-pants? Well, today was one of those days for me. I didn't have to work until the afternoon so I mostly lazed around in my jammies all day and when it came time to need to leave the house I still just didn't feel like putting pants on. So I went with this super comfy pumpkin colored mini. I've had this skirt awhile now but I still remember the day H&M when our eyes met across the room and I knew I had to have it. The color and the cute little retro button detailing is what sold me. I kept it simple and paired it with a striped tank, wedges, and a statement necklace.

What I'm Wearing: Oooh the Flossy Flossy

Hello, Lovelies! How are you this beautiful day? You ever have those days where you are frazzled from second one? I woke up later than I wanted and was scrambling like a mad woman to get around for work. You know what fixes a frazzled day? Faux Leather skirts, big hats and tacos (especially tacos), that's what. I honestly didn't have a lot of time to think about what I was gonna wear this morning so I just started grabbing. I just got this fabulous t-shirt on my latest shopping excursion. I saw it and was instantly in love. Marilyn Monroe and it says "Glamour is Forever"? Sign me up.

Anyhow, this t-shirt inspired me to glam up a bit with a faux leather skirt, pearls, pink heels and a derby hat. It made me think or the Fergie song "Glamorous" and then I found myself wondering what in the heck she is talking about when she says "flossy, flossy." Can anyone answer this question? Because the last time I checked, flossing was not glamorous.

What I'm Wearing: Busy Bee

So guys, I've totally neglected my baby. My blog should turn me in for abuse. I've just been so busy and when I'm not busy it seems I've been too lazy. Even though my pictures did not turn out good I decided to woman up and get a post together. :)

This past Saturday I had a busy day. We put on a fashion show for work to show off our fall/back-to-school collection and I was in charge of models and putting the looks together. I went into high stress (read: psycho) mode when several models I had booked flaked on me last minute. So guess who got her bootay up on the runway? You guessed it, this girl right here, and let me tell you I worked it out. My inner diva so needed that.

Anyway the outfit above is what I wore with the intention of styling models backstage. I paired black skinnies with a red cami, cheetah inset black blazer, statement necklace and Dalmation print, bow-adorned heels.

Pants and Blazer: Maurices, Statement Necklace: Clothes Mentor,
Handbag: Vintage from Antique Store, Heels: Style & Co (gift from mom)

Then after the fashion show/ work I had a wedding reception to run off to, so I went home and changed as quickly as possible into a dress and heels and went back out the door. The sun going down created a lot of awkward shadowing in all of these pics, so ignore that :)

I've missed you guys! How have you all been?

Warrior Princess

Well guys, I finished my second Warrior Dash. It was an awesome time, even though I could not move the next day.  In typical Kassi fashion, I decided to stand out a bit by putting a lovely plastic tiara on my head and a sash that read 2012 Warrior Princess. This was a last minute decision that caused my brother to tell me he would be running nowhere near me. Pffft. What fun is that?

I came to run this bad boy with all guys and at 3/4 a mile in it was becoming clear that with my lack of training (Read: No running whatsoever) I was not going to be able to keep up. As I told them to go on ahead, some lovely ladies said I could run with them and I had a great time laughing and making friends along the way!

Is that picture hot or what? :)

Happy Weekend!

Hello, Ladies and Gents! I hope you all have an absolutely fabulous weekend! I'm heading out for a few days. Wish I could say it was going to be relaxing, but instead I will be running the Warrior Dash for the second year in a row. The difference this year? I haven't ran at all in a long time. This could get interesting. I will probably throw up or die, or throw up then die. Good times. In all seriousness though, it is a good time. I have no plan of breaking the land speed record or anything so there will be no need to look for my name in the Guiness.

What are you all up to this weekend?

What I'm Wearing: Sparkle Crazy

Hello, loves! Today I may have got a little sparkle crazy with my outfit, but sometimes a girl just needs to feel like a classy disco ball. Am I right? I paired silver metallic flecked shorts with an embellished tank, a simple blazer, bow and bling adorned flats and bow earrings. So my mom bought me these shoes the other day and I think they are so amazing.  It's hard to tell all of the details (see picture below) but they are a beautiful blue sparkly material with a gorgeous embellishment. Swoon. I loved them so much I knew I needed to build an outfit around it.

So this is random, but have you ever had a super awkward conversation with a semi-stranger? I had a doozy of one ther other day and this is how it went. Bear with me on this one.

Lady: "I think I know you from somewhere"
Me: "Oh really (thinking in my head, I do not even know who you are, lady) from where?"
Lady: "You went to _____ High School"
Me: "Yep, I sure did"
Lady: "You were a varsity cheerleader there"
Me: "Yes, I was" (thinking she just recognized me from football games or competitive cheer meets)
Lady: "You cheered with my daughter, 'Sally'"
Me: "I don't think so, there was no one on my team by that name"
Lady: "Yes you did, you used to come over and pick 'Sally' up for cheer practice all the time!"
Me: "Uhhh I really don't think so, you must have me confused with someone else"
Lady: (Getting irritated with the fact I don't know what she is talking about)
"Yes, you did. You just don't remember. I used to run a daycare and you would come over all   the time and hang out with Sally"
Me: "I have never been to your house and I don't know your daughter" (At this point I am fearing for any children left in this woman's care)
Lady: "Yes you did, You just don't remember You and Sally were like best friends. She was a freshman when you were a senior"
Me: "Uhhhhhh"
Lady: "You just don't remember"

....And that is how we left it. She was totally convinced that I somehow in the years I've been out of high school have totally forgotten friends I had or things I did. She was totally out of her tree, but I had no idea what to do in that situation.

Anyhow, that is my random story of the day.

What I'm Wearing: Time for Tea

Hello my loves! Hope you all have been enjoying your weekend. I know I have! Yesterday, I was invited out to a local (and totally charming) tea house to have lunch with my mom and two of her best friends. First of all let's just roll it out there that I am not that into tea. Never have been, but I love gourmet lunches so how could I say no? So how does one even dress for tea? I'm not gonna pretend to be all high society, when clearly I'm not, but it was totally fun putting together a tea time look.

When I think of having tea, I think of dignified ladies wearing hats and gloves. One out of two isn't bad, right? I broke out a Jason Wu for Target dress that has been hanging in my closet with the tags on it for way too long, belted it with a striped belts and finished the look with some red peep-toe pumps. I thought the overall look was tea house appropriate and the meal was absolutely delicious.

What I'm Wearing: Hangin' Tough

Happy Weekend, everyone! Any fun plans? I am going to a tea house tomorrow with my mom and her friends, and then dinner with the family. Otherwise, that's about it.

So, I went a little bit rock n' roll, okay, maybe a lot bit rock n' roll with today's outfit. I look like Brett Michaels and a biker chick's love child, and I'm okay with this. We got this skull and crown adorned turband at work the other day and I was instantly in love. How could I not love something that gets me out of making my hair look decent?  Besides, the print is very Alexander McQueen-ish which makes me love it even more.

Nikki from the blog Mascara and Building Blocks was in the store today and said this "I thought you were going to cut me." That's absolutely what I was going for: nailed it. I broke out some studded denim shorts, a black tank, black lace back vest and my combat boots that I haven't worn since I went as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider for Halloween. A multi-strand studded necklace and huge metal bracelet completed my tough girl look.

What I'm Wearing: Seahorsin' Around

Hello, everyone! Hope you are all doing fabulous today. I had the day off so I've mostly been relaxing. Good times. Anyhow, I was wondering, Do any of you get crazy (borderline looney bin) happy when you see a certain item of clothing in a store? Well, I sure do and I let out a loud and ridiculous squeal when I saw this dress at T.J. Maxx. Why so excited? Two words: Seahorse Print. I'm not sure that I've ever had any particular attachment to seahorses or anything, it's just that the print was so freaking adorable.

It came with a matching belt, but that was a bit boring, so I punched it up a bit with a lime green belt, bow earrings and navy flats. The best part was that this was a $280 BCBG dress that I got for $24.99. I honestly couldn't pass it up.

What I'm Wearing: Three Looks in the Books

A little bit Rock N' Roll
OK, everyone. I've been noticeably absent from blogging lately, My posts are few and far between. I've had a busy summer filled with lots of wedding and baby showers, weddings and activities.  I have been photographing some of my outfits though and then just never sit down and post them so today I am posting three at once and you tell me your favorite.

The one above was actually a last minute, throw it together kind of outfit that features a matte sequined top, faux leather shorts, chunky jewelry and leopard wedges. Super comfy with a little bit of edge.

Mirror, Mirror

I actually wore this look to work today. I had the bright idea of photographing myself in the fitting room thinking it would make for cool pictures when actually it just makes me look huge because there is so much of me in there, haha. Oh well.

In this outfit I am wearing some robin's egg blue skinny pants that I got for $8, a  black and white striped trapeze top, cut-out wedges and a chunky statement bracelet.

Creme Brulee'

This look is head-to-toe Maurices. I really love the softness of the cream with the black and tan dots all over it. The mary-jane heels make the overall look sweet. Don't mind the weird shadows on my face and dress from the tree. Clearly this was not the best photography ever.

Which look is your favorite?

What I'm Wearing: Firecracker

Happy Independence Day, everyone! Sorry I've been so absent lately. Life has been a bit hectic this summer! Did any of you dress festively for this holiday? I'm not usually a dress for the holiday type of person, but today I really felt like it. Apparently I also felt like going all Kelly Kapowski circa 1995 with my outfit. High waisted shorts and rolled up tops? Bayside High called and they want their fashion back. Oh well, I really like this old school look. It's cute and perfect for this hot day!

Hope you all enjoy your holiday!

What I'm Wearing: Watercolor

Hello gorgeous people! How's your week been going? Mine has been really great. One of my favorite things about working retail is getting first chance at marked down merchandise. I had been eyeballing this pretty skirt for sometime but never did get it. It went on clearance for 50% off and then my employee discount on top of that made it such a great deal. You know I love me a bargain, so naturally I was thrilled.

I paired it with a coral tube top, a blue statement necklace and a fun bracelet, while keeping the shoes very neutral. It has been so hot here lately, so wearing much more clothing than this causes me to be uncomfortably hot? What do you think of this ensemble?

What I'm Wearing: Floral Fever

Hello ladies and gentleman! I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend so far. I know I am. After work today, I had dinner by the water with my family and then took the boat out around the lake. It was a beautiful day.

This is the outfit I wore to work for the day. I got these floral printed shorts from the Goodwill on my last treasure hunt there. They are straight up granny-style elastic waist, but I love them all the same. These are most likely a pair of shorts that have been shunned since the 80s. It's funny how style comes full circle. I paired them with a simple white tank, a teal waterfall blazer, pink belt, heart necklace and navy shoes. What do you think?

Shorts: Goodwill, Tank: K-Mart, Blazer: Maurices, Shoes: Boutique de Joie,
Necklace: Kohl's, Belt: A'gaci, Sunglasses: CVS Pharmacy

What I'm Wearing: Wu (minus the Tang) Clan

Hello Everyone! How was your weekend? I had a very busy, but lovely weekend that started with dinner with my family on Friday  and ended with laying by the pool and eating delicious Mexican food. The most important event of the weekend, however, was my wonderful cousin Lisa's Bridal shower. It was a perfect day to hold a shower outside on a shaded deck surrounded by family, great food and lots of laughter. Don't you just love days like that?

Anyhow, not quite as exciting, but still pretty exciting I found this Jason Wu for Target (with the tags on it) for $4 at the Goodwill. It's so darling, isn't it?  Polka dots and a bow? Sign me up. This was one of those thrifting trips that amounted to a whole lot of success. I also got a Jason Wu for target black pleated skirt, the shorts I am wearing above (both brand new with tags on it), floral shorts, a strapless coral top and a printed tank all for $14. Gotta love it!

What I'm Wearing: Tree Hugger

I may have went a little floral crazy here, but I still kind of enjoy it. Channeling my inner-flower child always makes me a little bit happy, even makes me frolic about (as seen above). The weather has been gorgeous which leaves me with no excuse for why I am so pale.

A coworker of mine dressed a mannequin at work with these two floral prints mixed and I knew I had to have it. Most of the population is still way too gun-shy about mixing prints, but I get a kick out of doing it. It feels so fresh to me not to have to match. What do you think of my floral printed chambray top mixed with the floral skirt?

Top and Skirt: maurices, Sandals: Target, Floral Headband: Second Chance Consignment

Have a lovely weekend, everyone! Stop and smell the roses!

What I'm Wearing: Astro Pop

Hello all! The more I look at this outfit, the more I feel like I look like an Astro Pop or like I am trying really hard to be patriotic. I got complimented on it though, so it must not have weirded the masses out. I bought this skirt for $1.20! How could I possibly say no to that? That vibrant blue AND accordian pleats? Shut the front door.

The choice of the red top was just kind of happenstance. I happened to see it at the top of my dresser and decided to roll with it. Do you think it's too much?

Top: Forever 21, Skirt: Value World, Shoes: Clothes Mentor, Belt: Off a dress

What's the verdict?
