What I'm Wearing: The Hunger Games

Ok, so who all has seen "The Hunger Games" movie? I just went this afternoon.. I've read (and re-read) all three books and was super pumped to see the first movie installment. I am extremely anal about book-to-movie interpretations and I tend to be nervous about what will be cut out or added. I liked this movie pretty well, but did not love it. I find myself nitpicking all of the details they left out, what parts they put in, and what they could have done better. Overall, I enjoyed it and thought it was cast very well though.

This is the outfit I wore on our afternoon date. I adore polka dots and really love the subtle black on black polka dot print this skirt provides. I paired it with a bronze sequin top, strappy metallic heels, and a fun statement necklace. Did I do Katniss proud?

Top: Forever 21, Skirt: Maurices via Second Chance Consignment,
Shoes: Elder Beerman (gift), Necklace: Wild Iris

What do you think of this outfit?

  2. So don't kill me...but I haven't read the books. Yet. I know, I know! I just cannot tear myself away from my romance novels, which is probably the best excuse you've ever heard for having not read The Hunger Games.

I really like your outfit, and I'm glad you liked the movie! Two of my friends said it was emotionally draining but good. I'm definitely reading the books BEFORE I see the movie though!

  23. I watched it this weekend, and I was happy with it overall. They're always going to cut out/edit some part when its a book-to-screen translation (sadly). Haha, but its been a couple years since I actually read the series. I was enraptured with the books when it first hit bookshelves and have been waiting for them to make it into a movie! I need to re-read them and brush up on my Hunger Games knowledge.
Anyway, I think you definitely did Katniss proud! That fiery gold top is gorgeous. And your heels! :D

  24. Great outfit, love your top.
And I loved the movie. I have honestly never seen any book being made into a film so good. It was casted great, the decors were great and of course the story was still good

  25. I do the same thing Kassi. I'll nitpik over the movie. Like that's not how it was in the book or they left THAT out. HAHAHA It's always the way! But HEY, you looked awesome girl. That outfit, heels and necklace are slammin. Hot mama!

  26. I am loving those shoes. They look great with the skirt. I feel like I am the only person in the world who is not interested in the "Hunger Games." Pop culture fail.

  29. Great outfit, it looks beautiful on you!

I have also read the Hunger Game trilogy - LOVED IT. But DID NOT like the movie at all. Sadly it was a dissapointment to me but I am usually pretty critical about book-to-movie productions as well.

Hope you had a relaxing weekend!

  30. I think Cinna would have loved your outfit! ;) The bronze shirt and metallic strappy heels just look like something he might put Katniss in. =)

I saw it Thursday and totally loved it. I'm kind of easy to please when it comes to movies though. If it has good acting (I was VERY pleased with the actors in this one! Unlike Twilight), then I'm usually happy. After reading a few reviews about missing vital parts of the story and the backstory, I get that... It'll be interesting to see what my husband has to say about it because he's never read the books, so he knows nothing about the story.

  34. I think this is a great look Kassi! Love the metallic heels :) I've not read the books nor have I seen the movie so I have no idea what is going on other than everyone is inspired by Katniss in terms of fashion!

  35. I like the texture of the black skirt. It makes it a bit more interesting than if it were just plain black.

And I saw the Hunger Games! I too read the books and thought they did a pretty good job. The only thing I really didn't like was all of the shakey camera technique they used a lot. I was starting to feel sea sick!! But it was good, nonetheless. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by! Your comments always make me giddy like a school girl on a sugar high. Leave your link so I can creep on you. The good kind of creeping. Not the kind where I hang your pictures in my room or anything. (awkward shuffle)
