Happy Weekend!
Hello, Ladies and Gents! I hope you all have an absolutely fabulous weekend! I'm heading out for a few days. Wish I could say it was going to be relaxing, but instead I will be running the Warrior Dash for the second year in a row. The difference this year? I haven't ran at all in a long time. This could get interesting. I will probably throw up or die, or throw up then die. Good times. In all seriousness though, it is a good time. I have no plan of breaking the land speed record or anything so there will be no need to look for my name in the Guiness.

What I'm Wearing: Sparkle Crazy
Hello, loves! Today I may have got a little sparkle crazy with my outfit, but sometimes a girl just needs to feel like a classy disco ball. Am I right? I paired silver metallic flecked shorts with an embellished tank, a simple blazer, bow and bling adorned flats and bow earrings. So my mom bought me these shoes the other day and I think they are so amazing. It's hard to tell all of the details (see picture below) but they are a beautiful blue sparkly material with a gorgeous embellishment. Swoon. I loved them so much I knew I needed to build an outfit around it.
So this is random, but have you ever had a super awkward conversation with a semi-stranger? I had a doozy of one ther other day and this is how it went. Bear with me on this one.
Lady: "I think I know you from somewhere"
Me: "Oh really (thinking in my head, I do not even know who you are, lady) from where?"
Lady: "You went to _____ High School"
Me: "Yep, I sure did"
Lady: "You were a varsity cheerleader there"
Me: "Yes, I was" (thinking she just recognized me from football games or competitive cheer meets)
Lady: "You cheered with my daughter, 'Sally'"
Me: "I don't think so, there was no one on my team by that name"
Lady: "Yes you did, you used to come over and pick 'Sally' up for cheer practice all the time!"
Me: "Uhhh I really don't think so, you must have me confused with someone else"
Lady: (Getting irritated with the fact I don't know what she is talking about)
"Yes, you did. You just don't remember. I used to run a daycare and you would come over all the time and hang out with Sally"
Me: "I have never been to your house and I don't know your daughter" (At this point I am fearing for any children left in this woman's care)
Lady: "Yes you did, You just don't remember You and Sally were like best friends. She was a freshman when you were a senior"
Me: "Uhhhhhh"
Lady: "You just don't remember"
....And that is how we left it. She was totally convinced that I somehow in the years I've been out of high school have totally forgotten friends I had or things I did. She was totally out of her tree, but I had no idea what to do in that situation.
Anyhow, that is my random story of the day.
Top: Forever 21, Blazer: Maurices, Shorts: Jennifer Lopez for Kohl's, Shoes: Nine West (gift)

What I'm Wearing: Time for Tea
Hello my loves! Hope you all have been enjoying your weekend. I know I have! Yesterday, I was invited out to a local (and totally charming) tea house to have lunch with my mom and two of her best friends. First of all let's just roll it out there that I am not that into tea. Never have been, but I love gourmet lunches so how could I say no? So how does one even dress for tea? I'm not gonna pretend to be all high society, when clearly I'm not, but it was totally fun putting together a tea time look.
When I think of having tea, I think of dignified ladies wearing hats and gloves. One out of two isn't bad, right? I broke out a Jason Wu for Target dress that has been hanging in my closet with the tags on it for way too long, belted it with a striped belts and finished the look with some red peep-toe pumps. I thought the overall look was tea house appropriate and the meal was absolutely delicious.
Dress: Jason Wu for Target, Belt: New York & Company, Shoes: BCBG via Dillard's, Hat: Payless

What I'm Wearing: Hangin' Tough
Happy Weekend, everyone! Any fun plans? I am going to a tea house tomorrow with my mom and her friends, and then dinner with the family. Otherwise, that's about it.
So, I went a little bit rock n' roll, okay, maybe a lot bit rock n' roll with today's outfit. I look like Brett Michaels and a biker chick's love child, and I'm okay with this. We got this skull and crown adorned turband at work the other day and I was instantly in love. How could I not love something that gets me out of making my hair look decent? Besides, the print is very Alexander McQueen-ish which makes me love it even more.
Nikki from the blog Mascara and Building Blocks was in the store today and said this "I thought you were going to cut me." That's absolutely what I was going for: nailed it. I broke out some studded denim shorts, a black tank, black lace back vest and my combat boots that I haven't worn since I went as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider for Halloween. A multi-strand studded necklace and huge metal bracelet completed my tough girl look.

What I'm Wearing: Seahorsin' Around
Hello, everyone! Hope you are all doing fabulous today. I had the day off so I've mostly been relaxing. Good times. Anyhow, I was wondering, Do any of you get crazy (borderline looney bin) happy when you see a certain item of clothing in a store? Well, I sure do and I let out a loud and ridiculous squeal when I saw this dress at T.J. Maxx. Why so excited? Two words: Seahorse Print. I'm not sure that I've ever had any particular attachment to seahorses or anything, it's just that the print was so freaking adorable.
It came with a matching belt, but that was a bit boring, so I punched it up a bit with a lime green belt, bow earrings and navy flats. The best part was that this was a $280 BCBG dress that I got for $24.99. I honestly couldn't pass it up.

The one above was actually a last minute, throw it together kind of outfit that features a matte sequined top, faux leather shorts, chunky jewelry and leopard wedges. Super comfy with a little bit of edge.

What I'm Wearing: Firecracker
Happy Independence Day, everyone! Sorry I've been so absent lately. Life has been a bit hectic this summer! Did any of you dress festively for this holiday? I'm not usually a dress for the holiday type of person, but today I really felt like it. Apparently I also felt like going all Kelly Kapowski circa 1995 with my outfit. High waisted shorts and rolled up tops? Bayside High called and they want their fashion back. Oh well, I really like this old school look. It's cute and perfect for this hot day!
Hope you all enjoy your holiday!
