What I'm Wearing: Granny Chic

Well ladies and gentleman - I am outside my comfort zone today. It isn't often you will see me in clothes that are not tailored closer to my body. A maxi skirt with a poncho is asking a lot of me. I know you might be giggling - but it really is. I was super comfy all day though which makes me think I should dress like this more often.

My boss told me I look like a "little old granny" which was super nice - exactly what I was going for (not). Do I look like a granny to you? Apparently I didn't look like a grandma to some dudes at the grocery store who smiled as they passed by and one even said "You're pretty." Thanks, random dude. Do you guys ever have those awkward encounters?

Anyway, on to the outfit. I love this jade green maxi skirt. It is super comfy and the color is gorgeous. I picked up this terracotta colored poncho at the Goodwill and this is the first time I've pulled it out to wear it. I paired it with a basic long sleeve t-shirt, cognac boots and my favorite necklace of the moment - this green three-stone beauty.

Skirt: Macy's, Poncho: Goodwill, Top: Simply Vera Wang via Kohl's (gift),
Boots: The Shoe Dept., Necklace: Arden B (gift)

  1. Well you might feel uncomfortable, but you LOOK great! As you know, I love maxis styled for fall & winter, so this look is right up my alley! I think the poncho is a great choice to layer over the dress, and the statement necklace looks perf!

  5. LOVE it! You're the kind of gal who could make a plastic bag look good (that's me trying to be more original than paper bag!) but this looks particularly amazing on you! I love the deep green colour with the poncho!

  8. I get that Grandma comment sometimes when I wear long dresses and bows etc. I always just say it's 'Grandma Chic'. The colour of that skirt is lovely, and I love how the necklace subtly accents the skirt. Love love love the necklace <3

  13. Kassi, this look is awesome. It's very boho chic, but on a winterized scale. I think I could see Nicole Richie pull something off like this, she'd probably have one of those crowns on which I think would become slightly bit of an overkill. I like this, and I think you did an awesome job going outside of your comfort zone.

  20. The skirt is a gorgeous color but I agree, it really isn't your style. "Grandma" is just a little harsh though. What do men know anyway?

Speaking of guys, isn't it fun when one says something like that, especially when it is so random? I guess you can take it as awkward? I choose to take it as a compliment... you should, too. You are "pretty"... deep down in your soul.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Your comments always make me giddy like a school girl on a sugar high. Leave your link so I can creep on you. The good kind of creeping. Not the kind where I hang your pictures in my room or anything. (awkward shuffle)

Fashionably yours,
