What I'm Wearing: Haywire

It all started with a phone call right after I got up this morning. My boss called and said his son had the flu and would not be able to pick he and his wife from the airport. His other son had appointments scheduled that he could not break on such short notice. So who does that leave? Me, I guess. He asked me to go to his house (about a 35 minute drive from my house) get his car, and drive it the rest of the way (another 40 minutes) to Detroit Metro. That isn't on the spot at all, right?

So I start getting around, which included a complete change from the business look I was going to wear today, into a comfy jeans ensemble. In the process of getting around, the necklace I was going to wear with this outfit got caught in my hair and when I tried to pull it free, the necklace busted.  Well I will just put it back together quickly I thought to myself, but in the process I lost one of the pieces. This made me launch into a Clark Griswold-worthy rant. I go to my closet and pull out one of the shoes I have on, but for the life of me could not find the other. This caused me to be throwing shoes about like a kid tearing open a Christmas present - stuff was flying everywhere. Needless to say, I finally found it and headed out the door for my long drive in the pouring rain.

Do you ever have those mornings? I am not a morning person to begin with, so little snags are not greeted with a smile and kindness. I sound like such a nice person right now, so I think we will just move on to the photos of the outfit.

The back of the shirt is all lace, which makes for a pretty outfit detail.

This belt was a pretty cool thrift store find. I have a serious belt addiction.

  17. I had one of those mornings today actually... And so I ended up just throwing on jeans, a tee, and a cardigan... Nothing special. But then this kind of ruined my plan of taking pics and getting a new post up tonight. Eh - or maybe I will just post the lazy look? HA!

Despite your morning you look fabulous (as usual). I love the lace in the back of the cardigan. And that belt was an awesome find!

  20. What an awesome outfit! I'm pretty sure I have one of those mornings at least twice a week. I may or may not lay out clothes the night before because otherwise I tend to look like a what not to wear disaster/look like I got dressed in the dark...

  29. What a crazy morning and such a hassle to do that HUGE favor for your boss. Hopefully he will think about that when he is giving out Christmas bonuses!
I have crazy morning like those almost every other day with the kids. Makes you want to just go back to bed and call it quits.
Your outfit came out great though. Love the shoes. They were worth the hassle to find.

  33. If it makes you feel any better... yes, I have mornings like that AND no, you don't want to mess with me when I do. I am not much fun. The good news, after I finally get to work, settle in, and down the first cup of coffee my mood tends to improve. I am generally upbeat.

As for your look... cute. I really like the shoes! Glad you found them both. Hee Hee

  35. Wow, if my boss ever asked me to pick them up I'd be screwed because I'm horrible at finding my way around, especially downtown by the airport!

I hope your day got better (it could only go up from there, right?)!

  36. LMFAOOOO Kassi! Girl, I hate those kind of mornings! It starts off bad and progressively gets even more chaotic. Then your room or the entire house looks as if a hurricane hit it (when there was once order). Well I must say you looked good despite it all. Sorry I'm just getting to your blog...there were sooooo many S blogs. HAHAHA I'm finally on T! I think I need to cut my list down. HAHAHA That belt, shoes and bag are just gorgeous! :D

Fashionably yours,
